Cassette Player - Eating Tape
88peugeot05BULLETIN NO. 270
DATE: February, 1988
SUBJECT: "TAPE EATING"
Cassette tapes are subject to a very harsh environment in vehicles, particularly severe temperature changes, excessive heat, vibration, dust, etc. Many pre-recorded tapes are of lesser quality and are not designed for sufficient longevity.
On occasion, an AM/FM stereo cassette deck will "eat" a tape or the cassette will get stuck in the unit. When this occurs:
1. Advise your customers and service personnel not to try to force the cassette out, because doing so may damage the cassette mechanism.
If the tape is not damaged, it will be removed by the vendor and mailed directly to the customer in approximately 4-8 weeks. If damaged, the tape will be discarded.
2. Return the radio with the defective cassette in-the-radio per warranty procedures.
NOTE: Please remind your customers to use a tape cleaning cassette (P/N 35.00) every 15 hours of total tape playing time to help avoid "tape eating" and to obtain optimum sound frequency response.
