Ignition System: Description and Operation
The electronic ignition system incorporates an ignition electronic control unit (IECU) which is programmed with several advance points determined to provide the optimum engine performance. The ignition system consists of a high tension distributor, an IECU, a detonation sensor, a detonation and fault indicator, an amplifier module, an ignition coil, a potentiometer and a microswitch.
The IECU analyzes inputs regarding engine speed, engine load, detonation, throttle flap position and battery voltage. Only the engine speed and load values are used to determine the ignition advance.
