BULLETIN NO.: 443

DATE: APRIL, 1992

SUBJECT:
NEW ELECTRICAL WIRING SCHEMATICS

MODELS:
1991 AND 1992 MODEL YEAR 2.2i 505 VEHICLES

I. The wiring schematics shown are applicable to all 1991 and 1992 model year 505 vehicles equipped with the 2.2i ZDJL engine.

These wiring schematics reflect the addition of a cold start relay and 1.2K Ohms resistor to the NTC sensor circuit. The relay and resistor are located on tbe right front shock tower.

The in-line resistor provides an additional 1.2K Ohms of resistance to the NTC when the engine coolant temperature is below 30~C. In this phase of operation the cold start relay is energized, allowing current flow through the resistor (higher resistance). When the coolant temperature reaches 30~C, the cold start relay is de-energized and current flows directly to ground (bypassing the resistor).

II. The wiring schematic shown is applicable only to 1992 model year 505 vehicles
equipped with the 2.2i ZDJL engine and automatic transmission.

This wiring schematic reflects the addition of an idle compensator solenoid and relay. The idle solenoid relay is located next to the starter relay on the support bracket mounted to the firewall on the right side of the brake booster.

The idle compensator solenoid is activated when the relay is de-energized in reverse or any forward gears. When shifted into park or neutral the relay is energized, which prevents activation of the idle compensator solenoid.
