Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.

Preliminary Inspection

Proper wheel alignment must be performed on a level alignment rack which is calibrated monthly. Keep turnplates clean and lubricate at least once a year.
Camber and toe are the only adjustments that can be performed on these vehicles. Before making any adjustment that affects wheel alignment, check the following:
1. Tires for proper inflation pressure, tread wear and that tires are same size. Check for tire lead.
2. Hub and bearing assemblies for excessive wear.
3. Ball joints and tie rod ends.
4. Vehicle trim height. Refer to /Specifications/ Vehicle Ride Height.
5. Strut dampeners for proper operation.
6. Control arms for loose bushings.
7. Stabilizer shaft for loose or missing parts.
8. Suspension and steering parts for damage.
9. Inspect steering gear mounts, brackets, and bolts for looseness or damage.
