Headlamp: Service and Repair

IMPORTANT
To minimize nitrogen from escaping from within the headlamp, the headlamp must be placed on a flat surface lens down when removing the bulb, and the amount of time that the bulb is removed from the headlamp must be kept to a minimum. If the headlamp is to be stored while repairs are being completed on the vehicle the bulb must remain in the headlamp.

Remove or Disconnect
1. Open and support hood.
2. Battery ground (negative) cable.
3. Front park/turn signal/sidemarker lamp.
4. Wing nuts from headlamp studs.
5. Headlamp from body by lifting up and out from headlamp support bracket.
6. Place headlamp, lens down, on a flat surface covered with a rag to protect surface of lens.
7. Unscrew bulb retainer ring from bulb socket.
8. Bulb from socket.

Install or Connect
1. Bulb to socket.
2. Screw bulb retainer ring to bulb socket.
3. Headlamp to body by aligning lower pins to locating holes in headlamp support bracket.
4. Headlamp to body by aligning bracket to studs.
5. Wing nuts to headlamp studs.
6. Front park/turn signal/sidemarker lamp.
7. Battery ground (negative) cable.
8. Close hood.
