Tilt Head Assembly

^ Tools Required:
- J 23653-SIR Lock Plate Compressor
- J 21854-01 Pivot Pin Remover
- Or Equivalents

REMOVAL
Remove or disconnect the following:
1. Do all Removal steps, SIR COIL ASSEMBLY.
2. Do Removal steps 7 and 8, T/S & MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH ASM.
3. Do Removal steps 2 through 6, LINEAR SHIFT ASM (REMOVAL).
4. Do Removal steps 2 through 7, UPPER TILT HEAD COMPONENTS.
5. Do Removal steps 6 through 8, LOCK MODULE ASM.
6. Do Removal steps 4 and 5, TILT SPRING.
7. Two pivot pins (56) using the Pivot Pin Remover.
8. Steering column tilt head assembly (26).
^ Pull tilt arm to disengage steering wheel lock shoes from dowel pins in steering column support assembly (57).

INSTALLATION
Install or connect the following:
1. Steering column tilt head assembly (26).
^ Using tilt lever position lock shoes to dowel pins.
^ Rotate head assembly (26) until holes for pivot pins (56) line up.
2. Two pivot pins (56).
A. Lubricate with lithium grease.
B. Press pins until firmly seated two places.
C. Stake pins (56) three locations two places.
3. Do Installation step 2, TILT SPRING, in this section.
4. Do Installation steps 2 through 4, LOCK MODULE ASM.
5. Do Installation steps 1 through 6, UPPER TILT HEAD COMPONENTS.
6. Do Installation steps 1 through 6, LINEAR SHIFT ASM (REMOVAL).
7. Do all Installations steps, SIR COIL ASSEMBLY.
