INTRODUCTION
The Power Sliding Door (PSD) diagnostic system check is an organized approach to identify problems associated with the PSD. The PSD diagnostic system check must be the starting point for any PSD-related complaint, and will direct you to the next logical step in diagnosing the complaint.
The PSD is very reliable component and is not likely the cause of the malfunction. Most PSD complaints are linked to the mechanical operation of the sliding door, faulty wiring, connectors, and other components. Understanding how the PSD operates and using the diagnostic tables correctly will reduce diagnostic time and prevent unnecessary parts replacement.
DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
- The following conditions may result in an intermittent operation of the PSD with no DTC stored:
- Any condition that results in the interruption of power to the system.
- An out of range battery voltage specification. Normal battery voltage: 10-16V.
- Loose or damaged ground(s).
- An intermittent failure may be very difficult to detect and to accurately diagnose. Faulty electrical connections or wiring causes most intermittent problems. When an intermittent condition is suspected, check the suspected circuits for the following conditions:
- Poor mating of connector halves or backed out terminals.
- Improperly formed or damaged terminals. Wire chafing.
- Poor wire to terminal connections.
- Dirty or corroded terminals.
- Damage to connector bodies.
- Wire broken inside the insulation.
TEST DESCRIPTION
Numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.
1. Checks for smooth (manual) operation the sliding door mechanism (rollers, tracks).
2. Checks for PSD open operation.
3. Checks for PSD close operation.
4. Checks the operation of the PSD lockout switch.
5. Checks for PSD disabled open operation with transaxle shifted out of PARK.
6. Checks for PSD alarm operation.
7. Checks the PSD open/close switch in the B-pillar.
8. Checks for PSD operation via keyless entry transmitter.
9. Checks the PSD power assist feature.
10. Checks the reversal (obstacle detection) feature.
11. Enters Diagnostic Mode 1: Reading DTCs.
12. Checks for PSD DTCs.
13. Enters Diagnostic Mode 3: Door Latch Release Actuator Test.
14. Checks for proper PSD operation.
