Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators: Service Precautions

CAUTION: When you are performing service on or near the SRS components or the SRS wiring, you must disable the SRS system. Refer to Disabling the SRS. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause air bag deployment, personal injury, or unnecessary SRS repairs.

The SDM maintains sufficient voltage in order to cause a deployment for up to 10 seconds after one the following operations are performed:
^ The ignition switch is turned OFF.
^ The battery is disconnected.

Many service procedures require that the following components be disconnected from the deployment loops in order to avoid an accidental deployment:
^ The AIR BAG-1 fuse
^ The inflator module circuits
