Battery Replacement
REMOVAL PROCEDURECAUTION: Before servicing any electrical component, the ignition key must be in the OFF or LOCK position and all electrical loads must be OFF unless instructed otherwise in these procedures. If a tool or equipment could easily come in contact with a live exposed electrical terminal, also disconnect the negative battery cable. Failure to follow these precautions may cause personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.
1. Remove the accessory wiring junction block bolt.
2. Remove the accessory wiring junction block from the front end sheet metal diagonal brace.
3. Remove the front end sheet metal diagonal brace.
4. Disconnect the battery ground (negative) cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure. Service and Repair
5. Disconnect the battery (positive) cable.
6. Remove the battery hold down retainer.
IMPORTANT: Do not tip the battery more than 40 degrees during removal.
7. Remove the battery.
8. Remove the battery insulator from the battery.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the battery insulator to the battery.
IMPORTANT: Do not tip the battery more than 40 degrees during installation.
2. Install the battery. Make sure the battery is positioned under the front lip of the battery tray.
3. Install the battery hold down retainer.
4. Install the battery (positive) cable to the battery.
Tighten
Tighten the battery (positive) cable to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).
5. Install the battery ground (negative) cable to the battery.
6. Install the front end sheet metal diagonal brace.
7. Install the accessory wiring junction block to the front end sheet metal diagonal brace.
8. Install the accessory wiring junction block bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the accessory wiring junction block bolt to 10 N.m (88.5 lb in).
