Front Wheel Drive Shaft Oil Seal Replacement (Left)
REMOVAL PROCEDURE1. Raise and support the vehicle.
2. Remove the left front tire and wheel.
3. Remove the left engine splash shield.
4. Remove the left stabilizer shaft link from the left lower control arm.
5. Remove the left tie rod end from the left steering knuckle.
6. Remove the left lower ball joint from the left steering knuckle.
7. Remove the left drive axle from the transaxle.
8. Secure the left drive axle to the left steering knuckle and strut.
9. Use a screwdriver or other suitable tool to pry out the seal (409). Do NOT damage the seal bore.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

- J 34115 Left Side Axle Seal Installer
- J 37292-B Axle Seal Protector
1. Use a light wipe of transaxle fluid to lubricate the seal lip.
2. Use the J 34115 to install a new seal (409).
3. Install the J 37292-B in the seal.
4. Install the drive axle to the transaxle.
IMPORTANT: Carefully guide the axle shaft past the lip seal. Do NOT allow the shaft splines to contact any portion of the seal lip surface or damage to the seal will occur.
5. Remove the J 37292-B.
6. Install the left lower ball joint to the left steering knuckle.
7. Install the left tie rod end to the left steering knuckle.
8. Install the left stabilizer shaft link to the left lower control arm.
9. Install the left engine splash shield.
10. Install the left front tire and wheel.
11. Lower the vehicle.
12. Adjust the fluid level.

13. Inspect for proper completion of the repairs.
14. Inspect for proper fluid level.
15. Inspect for fluid leaks.
