Instrument Panel (I/P) Assembly Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure.
2. Remove the right closeout/insulator panel. Refer to Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Right (Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Right) .
3. Remove the left closeout/insulator panel. Refer to Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Left (Service and Repair) .
4. Remove the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement (Service and Repair) .
5. Remove the instrument panel (I/P) accessory trim plate. Refer to Trim Plate Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Accessory (Instrument Panel (IP) - Accessory Trim Plate Replacement) .
6. Remove the I/P compartment. Refer to Compartment Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) (Service and Repair) .
7. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zones.
8. Remove the inflatable restraint I/P module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Instrument Panel Module Replacement.
9. Remove the underhood electrical center. Refer to Underhood Electrical Center or Junction Block Replacement.
10. Remove the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Replacement.
11. Remove the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement.
12. Remove the hood release handle. Refer to Hood Latch Release Handle Replacement (Hood Latch Release Handle Replacement) in Body Front End.
13. Remove the front floor console. Refer to Console Replacement - Front Floor (Console Replacement - Front Floor) .
14. Remove the front floor console bracket. Refer to Bracket Replacement - Console Floor (Bracket Replacement - Console Floor) .
15. Remove the audio system. Refer to Radio Replacement.
16. Remove the heater A/C controls. Refer to HVAC Control Module Replacement.
17. Remove the switch bank. Refer to Instrument Panel (I/P) Multifunction Switch Assembly Replacement Service and Repair in Lighting Systems.
18. Remove the windshield pillar garnish molding. Refer to Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar (Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar) in Interior Trim.
19. Remove the I/P upper trim. Refer to Trim Pad Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Upper (Service and Repair) .
20. Remove the headlamp switch. Refer to Headlamp Switch Replacement.
21. Remove the data link connector. Refer to Data Link Connector Replacement.
22. Remove the bolts/screws (1) that secure the instrument panel (3) to the body.
23. Lift up from the bottom of the I/P in order to release the top retainers.
24. Remove the I/P wiring harness. Refer to Instrument Panel (I/P) Harness Replacement (Instrument Panel (IP) - Harness Replacement) .
25. Remove the instrument panel (3).
Installation Procedure
Important: The instrument panel (I/P) will rest off of the lower mounts when you lower the I/P. This will aid in the routing of the wiring harness. Prop the I/P up in order to route the harness, as needed.
1. Perform the following steps in order to install the instrument panel (2) to the body:
1. Secure the top retainers.
2. Lower the instrument panel (I/P).
2. Install the I/P wiring harness. Refer to Instrument Panel (I/P) Harness Replacement (Instrument Panel (IP) - Harness Replacement) .
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
3. Install the bolts/screws (1) to the I/P body (3).
Tighten the bolts/screws to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
4. Install the data link connector. Refer to Data Link Connector Replacement.
5. Install the headlamp switch. Refer Headlamp Switch Replacement.
6. Install the I/P upper trim. Refer to Trim Pad Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Upper (Service and Repair) .
7. Install the windshield pillar garnish molding. Refer to Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar (Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar) in Interior Trim.
8. Install the switch bank. Refer to Instrument Panel (I/P) Multifunction Switch Assembly Replacement Service and Repair in Lighting Systems.
9. Install the heater A/C controls. Refer to HVAC Control Module Replacement.
10. Install the audio system. Refer to Radio Replacement.
11. Install the front floor console bracket. Refer to Bracket Replacement - Console Floor (Bracket Replacement - Console Floor) .
12. Install the front floor console. Refer to Console Replacement - Front Floor (Console Replacement - Front Floor) .
13. Install the hood release handle. Refer to Hood Latch Release Handle Replacement (Hood Latch Release Handle Replacement) in Body Front End.
14. Install the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement.
15. Install the IPC. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Replacement.
16. Install the underhood electrical center. Refer to Underhood Electrical Center or Junction Block Replacement.

18. Install the I/P compartment. Refer to Compartment Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) (Service and Repair) .
19. Install the I/P accessory trim plate. Refer to Trim Plate Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Accessory (Instrument Panel (IP) - Accessory Trim Plate Replacement) .
20. Install the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement (Service and Repair) .
21. Install the left closeout/insulator panel. Refer to Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Left (Service and Repair) .
22. Install the right closeout/insulator panel. Refer to Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Right (Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Right) .
23. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure.
24. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zones.
