Splash Shield Replacement - Engine

Tools Required

J 38778 Door Trim Pad and Garnish Clip Remover


Removal Procedure

1. Use J 38778 to remove the push-in retainers from the engine compartment side rail.
2. Use J 38778 to remove the push-in retainers from the front fender liner at the engine splash shield.




3. Remove the front wheel speed jumper harness from the left engine splash shield. Refer to Wheel Speed Sensor
Replacement (Front) in Antilock Brake System.




4. Remove the front wheel speed jumper harness from the right engine splash shield. Refer to Wheel Speed Sensor
Replacement (Front) in Antilock Brake System.
5. Disconnect the battery cable from the right engine splash shield. Refer to Battery Cable Replacement in Engine Electrical.
6. Remove the engine splash from the vehicle.



Installation Procedure






Important: The battery cable and the ABS harness must be installed to the engine splash shield prior to installation of the engine splash shield to the body.


1. Install the front wheel speed jumper harness to the left engine splash shield. Refer to Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement (Front) in Antilock Brake System.




2. Install the front wheel speed jumper harness to the right engine splash shield. Refer to Wheel Speed Sensor
Replacement (Front) in Antilock Brake System.
3. Connect the battery cable to the right engine splash shield. Refer to Battery Cable Replacement in Engine Electrical.
4. Align the engine splash shield to the vehicle engine compartment side rail.
5. Install the push-in retainers to the engine compartment side rail.
6. Install the push-in retainers to the front fender liner at the engine splash shield.
