Replacement - Inlet
EVAPORATOR TUBE REPLACEMENT - INLETTOOLS REQUIRED
J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
2. Disconnect the cruise control module electrical connector.
3. Remove cruise control module from the mounting bracket and reposition aside.
4. Remove the cruise control module mounting bracket bolts.
5. Remove the cruise control module mounting bracket.
6. Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system.
7. Remove the evaporator inlet tube clamp nut.
8. Remove the wiper module cover.
9. Remove the left wiper arm linkage nuts.Reposition the left wiper arm linkage for access.
10. Disconnect the electrical connector from the A/C refrigerant pressure sensor.
11. Remove the A/C refrigerant pressure sensor from the evaporator inlet tube.
12. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the brake booster and reposition.
13. Remove the evaporator outlet tube nut at the TXV.
14. Disconnect the evaporator outlet tube and evaporator inlet tube from the TXV.
15. Disconnect the evaporator inlet tube from the evaporator outlet tube.
16. Cap or tape the TXV.
IMPORTANT: Cap or tape the open A/C refrigerant tube and A/C refrigerant components to prevent system contamination.
17. Remove the evaporator inlet tube to condenser fitting bolt.
18. Disconnect the evaporator inlet tube from the condenser.
19. Cap or tape the condenser.
20. Disconnect the auxiliary evaporator inlet tube from the evaporator inlet tube.
21. Cap or tape the auxiliary evaporator inlet tube.
22. Remove the evaporator outlet tube bracket bolt.
23. Disconnect the electrical connector on the evaporator outlet tube bracket.
24. Remove the evaporator inlet tube.
IMPORTANT: Gently lift up on the evaporator outlet tube bracket to allow enough clearance to slide the evaporator inlet tube underneath.
25. Remove and discard the sealing washers and O-ring.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the new O-ring.
2. Install new sealing washers onto the evaporator inlet tube.
3. Install the evaporator inlet tube.
IMPORTANT: Gently lift up on the evaporator outlet tube bracket to allow enough clearance to slide the evaporator inlet tube underneath.
4. Connect the electrical connector on the evaporator outlet tube bracket.
5. Install the evaporator outlet tube bracket bolt.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
Vehicle Damage Warnings
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to..........5.5 N.m (48.7 lb in).
6. Remove the cap or tape from the auxiliary evaporator inlet tube.
7. Connect the auxiliary evaporator inlet tube to the evaporator inlet tube.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to.....27 N.m (20 lb ft).
8. Remove the cap or tape from the condenser.
9. Connect the evaporator inlet tube to the condenser.
10. Install the evaporator inlet tube to condenser fitting bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to.........16 N.m (12 lb ft).
11. Remove the cap or tape from the TXV.
12. Connect the evaporator inlet tube to the evaporator outlet tube.
13. Connect the evaporator inlet and outlet tubes to the TXV.
14. Install the evaporator outlet tube to TXV nut.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to.....16 N.m (12 lb ft).
15. Install the evaporator inlet tube clamp nut.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to.....3.3 N.m (29 lb in).
16. Install the A/C refrigerant pressure sensor to the evaporator inlet tube.
Tighten
Tighten the sensor to 5 N.m (44 lb in).
17. Connect the A/C refrigerant pressure sensor electrical connector.
18. Connect the vacuum hose to the brake booster.
19. Install the left wiper arm linkage.
20. Install the left wiper arm linkage nuts.
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to.....5 N.m (44 lb in).
21. Install the wiper module cover. Refer to Wiper Module Cover Replacement in Body and Accessories.
22. Install the cruise control module mounting bracket.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to.....6 N.m (53 lb in).
23. Install the cruise control module into the mounting bracket.
24. Connect the cruise control module electrical connector.
25. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system.
26. Leak test the fittings of the component using J 39400-A.
27. Install the air cleaner assembly.
