This bulletin is being revised to include the 2001 model year and revise the Warranty Information. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 04-08-50-010A (Section 08 - Body and Accessories).
Condition
Some customers may comment on the front seat assembly heat function not operating properly.
Cause
This condition may be due to a short circuit in the heated seat element.
Correction
Determine the correct repair procedure based on the VIN of the vehicle:
VINS PRIOR To and INCLUDING:
Chevrolet Venture - 3D324013
Oldsmobile Silhouette - 4D100134
Pontiac Montana - 4D100078
1. Disconnect the heated seatback harness connector from the heated seat cushion harness connector. Check for electrical continuity at the seatback connector (female side).
2. Determine if continuity exists:
Important:
In the condition of "no continuity", you must install both heat elements for the system to function properly.
^ If there is NO continuity, both seatback heat element and seat cushion heat element must be replaced. Order the appropriate service kit part number (see parts information below), which contains replacement seatback and seat cushion heat elements.
^ If continuity EXISTS, replace the seat cushion heat element.

1. Disconnect the heated seatback harness connector from the heated seat cushion harness connector. Check for electrical continuity at the seatback connector (female side).
2. Determine if continuity exists:
^ If there is NO continuity; a seatback heat element must be replaced.
^ If continuity EXISTS; replace the seat cushion heat element.
