Power Window Lockout Function Inoperative

POWER WINDOW LOCKOUT FUNCTION INOPERATIVE

DIAGNOSTIC FAULT INFORMATION

Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle prior to using this diagnostic procedure Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview.

CIRCUIT/SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
The lockout function removes power to the rear power window switches when the switch is in the locked position. When the lockout switch is in the unlocked position, power is supplied to the individual power window switches.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
The lock out switch removes power to all of the passenger window switches.

CIRCUIT/SYSTEM VERIFICATION
Ignition ON, place the window lock out switch in the unlock position. Observe one of the passenger window while depressing the passenger switch for that window. The window should roll down.

CIRCUIT/SYSTEM TESTING
1. Ignition ON, disconnect the master window switch, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the voltage supply circuit and ground.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate, repair the voltage supply circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
2. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the master window switch.

COMPONENT TESTING
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the driver window switch.
2. Test for infinite resistance between the voltage supply terminal and the lock out switch output terminal with the lock out switch in the lock position.
- If less than infinite resistance, replace the drivers window switch.
3. Test for less than 1.5 ohms between the voltage supply terminal and the lock out switch output terminal with the lock out switch in the unlock position.
- If greater than 1.5 ohms, replace the drivers window switch.
