Oil Pan Installation
1. Apply sealer GM P/N 12378521, (Canadian P/N 88901148) or the equivalent to both sides of the crankshaft rear main bearing cap (1).
2. Install the oil pan gasket.
3. Install the oil pan.
Important: Replace the two rear bolts that bolt the oil pan to the engine block, next to the rear main seal, with two NEW bolts (P/N 11515756). Prior to installing the new bolts, apply threadlocker G/M P/N 12345382 (Canadian P/N 10953489) to the threads.
4. Install the oil pan bolts.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice .
5. Prior to tightening bolts, ensure that the oil pan boss sits flush with the engine block boss (1).
Tighten the oil pan bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
6. Install the oil pan side bolts.
Tighten the oil pan side bolts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
7. After tightening bolts, recheck to ensure that the oil pan boss sits flush with the engine block boss (1).
8. Install the oil pan drain plug.
Tighten the oil pan drain to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
