Valve Rocker Arm Cover Installation - Right Side






Important: All gasket-mating surfaces need to be free of oil and foreign material. Use P/N 12378392 or equivalent to clean surfaces.



Important: Apply sealant GM P/N 12378521 (Canadian P/N 88901148), or equivalent, at the cylinder head to lower intake manifold joint.


1. Install a new gasket to the valve rocker arm cover. Ensure that the gasket is properly seated in the groove of the valve rocker arm cover.
2. Apply sealer GM P/N 12378521 (Canadian P/N 88901148), or equivalent to the joint surfaces (1) where the cylinder head and intake manifold meet.




3. Install the valve rocker arm cover.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice .

4. Install the valve rocker arm cover bolts.

Tighten the valve rocker arm cover bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).





5. Install the PCV fresh air tube (529).
6. Install the ignition module studs (701).

Tighten the ignition module studs to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

7. Install the ignition module with the ignition wires still attached (700).
8. Install the ignition module nuts (702) and bolts (703).

Tighten the ignition module nuts and bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

9. Install the fresh air tube and wire harness retaining bolt (557).

Tighten the fresh air tube and wire harness retaining bolt to 5 N.m (44 lb in).





10. Install the heater outlet pipe (309).
11. Install the heater outlet pipe nuts and bolt (310, 311, 318) to the upper intake manifold.

* Tighten the heater outlet pipe nuts (310) and bolt (311) to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
* Tighten the heater outlet pipe nut (318) to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
* Tighten the throttle body bolts (515) to 10 N.m (89 lb in).


12. Install the heater outlet pipe hose and hose clamp to the pipe.
13. Install the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor (506), clip (505), and bolt (504) to the intake.

Tighten the MAP sensor bolt to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
