Circuit/System Description

C056E 4B

After either replacing the power steering control module (PSCM), motor or steering column assembly, the Steering Wheel Angle and Torque Calibration procedure must be performed.

After replacement of the PSCM, the PSCM must be configured with the proper calibration using the service programming system (SPS).

Conditions for Running the DTC

The ignition is ON.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

C056E 4B

This DTC will set if the PSCM, motor or torque sensor has not been calibrated using the Steering Wheel Angle and Torque Calibration procedure.

This DTC will set if the PSCM has not undergone SPS reprogramming.

Actions Taken When DTC Sets

* DTC C056E 4B is stored in memory.
* The driver information center (DIC) displays the SERVICE POWER STEERING warning message.
* 4B-No Steering assist.
* 42-Steering assist is set to a default level.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

C056E 4B
* A current DTC will clear after the PSCM, motor or torque sensor has been calibrated using the Steering Wheel Angle and Torque Calibration procedure.
* A history DTC will clear after 100 consecutive malfunction-free ignition cycles from when the PSCM, motor or torque sensor has been calibrated using the Steering Wheel Angle and Torque Calibration procedure.

* A current DTC will clear after the PSCM has been configured with the proper calibration profile.
* A history DTC will clear after 100 consecutive malfunction-free ignition cycles from when the PSCM has been configured with the proper calibration profile.
