ENGINE (AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE)Transmission Mount Torque Specifications:
Transmission Mount Torque Specification:
Remove
1. Disconnect battery cables at battery.
2. Drain cooling system.
3. Remove air cleaner and pre-heat tube.
4. Disconnect engine harness connector.
5. Disconnect all external vacuum hose connections.
6. Remove throttle and transaxle linkage at E.F.I. assembly and intake manifold.
7. Remove upper radiator hose.
8. If equipped with air conditioning, remove A/C compressor from mounting brackets and set aside. Do not disconnect hoses.
9. Remove front engine strut assembly.
10. Disconnect heater hose at intake manifold.
11. Remove transaxle to engine bolts leaving the upper two bolts in place.
12. Remove front mount-to-cradle nuts.
13. Remove forward exhaust pipe.
14. Remove flywheel inspection cover and remove starter motor.
15. Remove torque converter to flywheel bolts.
16. Remove P/S pump and bracket and move to one side.
17. Remove heater hose and lower radiator hose.
18. Remove two rear transaxle support bracket bolts.
19. Remove fuel supply line at fuel filter.
20. Using a floor jack and a block of wood placed under the transaxle, raise engine and transaxle until engine front mount studs clear cradle.
21. Connect engine lift equipment and put tension on engine.
22. Remove two remaining transaxle bolts.
23. Slide engine forward and lift from car. Install engine on stand.
Install
1. Install engine lifting equipment to engine and lower engine into chassis, guiding engine to align with transaxle bell housing.
2. With engine supported by lifting equipment, install two upper bell housing bolts. Do not lower engine completely while jack is supporting transaxle.
3. Remove transaxle support jack.
4. Lower engine into chassis mounts and remove lifting equipment.
5. Raise vehicle and install front mount-to-chassis nuts.
6. For remaining installation procedures, reverse steps 1 through 19.
MANUAL TRANSAXLE
Remove
1. Disconnect battery cables at battery.
2. Hoist car.
3. Remove front mount-to-cradle nuts.
4. Remove forward exhaust pipe.
5. Remove starter assembly (wires attached and swing to side).
6. Remove flywheel inspection cover.
7. Lower car.
8. Remove air cleaner.
9. Remove all bell housing bolts.
10. Remove forward torque reaction rod from engine and core support.
11. If equipped with A/C, remove A/C belt and compressor and swing to side.
12. Remove emission hoses at canister.
13. Remove power steering hose (if so equipped).
14. Remove vacuum hoses and electrical connectors at solenoid.
15. Remove heater blower motor.
16. Disconnect throttle cable.
17. Drain cooling system.
18. Disconnect heater hose.
19. Disconnect radiator hose.
20. Disconnect engine harness at bulkhead connector.
21. With engine lifting tool, hoist engine (remove heater hose at intake manifold and disconnect fuel line).
Install
1. With engine lifting tool, lower engine into vehicle.
2. Connect heater hose at intake manifold.
3. Connect fuel line.
4. Install four (4) upper bell housing bolts.
5. Hoist car.
6. Install two (2) lower bell housing bolts.
7. Install front mount-to-cradle nuts.
8. Install flywheel inspection cover.
9. Install exhaust pipe.
10. Install starter assembly.
11. Lower car.
12. Install heater blower motor.
13. Install engine harness at bulkhead connector.
14. Install power steering hose (if so equipped).
15. Install emission hoses at canister.
16. Install heater and radiator hoses.
17. Install vacuum hoses and electrical connections to solenoid.
18. Install forward torque reaction at engine and core support
19. Install air cleaner.
20. Fill cooling system.
21. Connect battery cables.
22. Start engine, check timing per emissions label.
