1. Raise and support vehicle.
2. Drain cooling system.
3. Disconnect exhaust pipe, then lower vehicle.
4. On models equipped with cruise control, remove servo bracket.
5. Remove air management valve and hose.
6. Remove intake manifold, then disconnect exhaust crossover pipe.
7. Remove cover and loosen rocker arm stud nuts until push rods can be removed.
8. Remove cylinder head attaching bolts and the cylinder head.
9. Reverse procedure to install. Coat cylinder head bolt threads with a suitable sealing compound. Torque cylinder head attaching bolts to specifications in sequence shown in Fig. 7. On 1987---88 models, turn cylinder head attaching bolts and additional 1/4 turn.

3. Lower vehicle, then remove intake manifold and exhaust crossover pipe.
4. Remove alternator bracket, then the air injection pump and brackets.
5. Remove dipstick tube, then loosen rocker arm stud nuts until push rods can be removed.
6. Remove cylinder head attaching bolts and the cylinder head.
7. Reverse procedure to install. Coat cylinder head bolt threads with suitable sealing compound. Torque cylinder head attaching bolts to specifications in sequence shown in Fig. 7. On 1987---88 models, turn cylinder head attaching bolts and additional 1/4 turn.
