Subject: DRIVEABILITY CORRECTIONS - 1982 "G" SERIES EQUIPPED WITH 3.8L (VIN CODE A) FEDERAL ENGINE

A new calibrated PROM and EGR valve have been released for production and service on 1982 "G" Series equipped with Federal 3.8L engines. These parts are to be used for dealer correction of any one of or combination of the conditions listed below, when it has been determined that affected systems are within specifications and are functioning normally.

^ Chuggle at 40-45 MPH (Use PROM only)
^ Tip-In Hesitation (Use EGR valve only)
^ Cold Driveability Hesitation (Use PROM and EGR)

Before a decision is made to install a PROM and/or an EGR valve, vehicle should be road tested, if possible, for the owner described conditions and vehicle systems checked to determine if adjustments are within specifications.

Unless all areas listed on the checklist are correct, a PROM and/or EGR valve will not be effective for the purpose intended. Use the checklist for assistance when necessary.
Any time one of the three or all three conditions are encountered and the checklist did not assist in curing the condition, use the PROM and/or EGR, or use both for all three conditions. ONE PART CAN BE INSTALLED WITHOUT THE OTHER.
