MODELS AFFECTED: 1982 4.1L EQUIPPED GRAND PRIX AND BONNEVILLE
A recalibrated PROM, EGR valve, EGR relay, and a wiring harness to install the relay are now available in limited quantity to correct this condition.
The following kit part #25522748 should be ordered from WDDGM and installed on the vehicle per the instructions contained in this bulletin.
NOTICE: All parts contained in this kit must be installed for correction, if not performance and detonation conditions will occur.

Procedure
1. Disconnect positive battery cable.
2. Remove ECM and housing from body kick panel.
3. Connect jumper harness provided to relay.
4. Solder splice jumper harness into the following wire leads going to the lettered ECM connector of the ECM harness; See Figures 2 and 3.
Note: Use only Rosin core solder for all solder splices.

5.. Tape each wire splice.
FIGURE 4 - Wrapped Relay In Foam Sound Deadener:
6. Wrap relay in foam sound deadener provided, See Figure 4.

7. Tape jumper harness and relay to ECM harness, See Figure 1 for locations.
8. Install new PROM into ECM, reinstall ECM and housing.
9. Install EGR valve per Service manual procedures.
10. Reconnect battery cable.
