Alternator - Ground Wire Broken

Subject: ALTERNATOR GROUND WIRE BROKEN - 1981-1983 T1000 MODELS
Some T1000 models may exhibit alternator ground wire breakage due to bending fatique caused by the alternator vibrating in its rubber mounts.

1981-1982 T1000GASOLINE ENGINE WITH AIR CONDITIONING & REAR DEFOGGER:

1983 T1000 ALL GASOLINE ENGINES:

This condition can be corrected by securing the ground wire in a plastic clip (part number 8900116) and installing the clip in the specified hole on the back of the alternator.. See diagrams (shown below as well as on the reverse side).

This change started in production on January 11, 1983 with V.I.N. DY156832.
