Component Tests and General Diagnostics
1. Check transmission oil level and correct if necessary.2. Check throttle valve cable and adjust as necessary.
3. Check vacuum modulator and vacuum system for leaks or defects.
4. Check manual linkage and adjust as necessary.
5. Check engine tune up. If engine performance indicates that an engine tune up is required, it should be performed before road testing is completed or transmission correction is attempted. Poor engine performance can result in rough shifting or other malfunctions.
6. Raise vehicle and support transmission. Remove rear crossmember bolts and lower transmission enough to remove pressure tap plug located on left side of transmission. Attach pressure gauge and hose, reattach transmission mount and lower vehicle for testing. The pressures are off the servo apply.
7. Proceed with the pressure test as described in image.
8. Install pressure tap plug and torque to 5-7 ft lbs.
