GM 69.5mm Passenger

1. Remove plug and drain transmission.

2. Remove release bearing and fork assembly.

3. Remove drive gear bearing retainer and belleville spring.

4. Remove bolt, retainer and speedometer driven gear.

5. Remove shift lever quadrant from extension housing.

6. Remove back-up light switch, extension housing bolts and extension housing.

7. Remove snap rings, speedometer drive gear, spacer and bearing.

8. Remove snap ring from mainshaft, then the thrust washer and lock ball.

9. Remove large snap ring from drive gear shaft bearing.

10. Remove center support from case with mainshaft, countergear and drive gear assembly.

11. Using a suitable punch, drive pins from shifter forks while supporting ends of shaft.

12. Remove detent spring plate mounting bolts from center support Remove plate, three springs and balls.




13. Remove shifter shaft from center support. Remove shift forks and interlock pins.

14. Engage 1st and 2nd synchronizer in 1st gear and 3rd and 4th synchronizer in third gear.

15. Install holding fixture J-29768 on end of drive gear shaft and countergear. Remove self-locking nut retaining the countergear and the plain washer.




16. Remove ball bearing and fifth gear using a suitable puller.

17. Remove fifth gear, blocker ring and needle bearing from mainshaft.

18. Remove self-locking nut, thrust washers and reverse idler gear from reverse idler gear shaft.

19. Bend locking retainer back and remove mainshaft nut.

20. Remove locking retainer, synchronizer assembly, reverse gear, needle bearing and collar and thrust washer. Remove reverse gear from countergear. Remove holding fixture.

21. Reposition synchronizers to neutral position.




22. Remove countergear snap ring while gently tapping on front of center support. Remove mainshaft bearing snap ring and move mainshaft inward. Remove countergear and mainshaft.

23. Remove drive gear, needle bearing, and blocker ring from end of mainshaft.
