Subject: HARSH 1-2 SHIFT - 1983 STE MODEL EQUIPPED WITH 2.8L V-6 H.O. OPTION AND THM 125C "CC" MODEL TRANSMISSION


Some 1983 THM 125C transmission, CC model only, may exhibit harsh 1-2 shifts.

Beginning August 5, 1983 all CC model THM 125 transmissions were produced with a new control valve assembly that has a new 1-2 accumulator valve, spring and bushing. The new 1-2 accumulator valve, spring and bushing will soften the 1-2 shift.

When servicing any 1983 CC model THM 125C transmission for a harsh 1-2 shift condition, order service package number 8653944 which contains:

1 - Valve, 1-2 Accumulator
1 - Spring, 1-2 Accumulator Valve
1 - Bushing, 1-2 Accumulator Valve

Refer to your service manual for the proper disassembly and reassembly of the 1-2 accumulator valve train.
