A/T - No 2ND, 4TH or Reverse Gear Operation

Subject: NO 2ND, 4TH OR REVERSE GEAR OPERATION - THM 700-R4 TRANSMISSION

When servicing any THM 700-R4 transmission for a condition of no 2nd, 4th or reverse gears, inspect the




reaction sun gear shell for a possible broken hub or stripped spline (see illustration)..

If the reaction sun gear shell hub or spline area is broken or stripped, replace the sun gear shell with part number 8642203.. Also, during reassembly be certain the reaction sun gear snap ring is properly located and the transmission end play is correct.
