A/T - RTV Sealant Usage Precaution
Number 83-I-151 Section 6 Date 09/83Subject: RTV SEALANT USAGE PRECAUTION
Care must be exercised not to get RTV sealant into the bolt holes when using it for application, i.e., at valve cover and transmission pans. If the sealer gets into a blind hole, it will form a hydrastatic lock and may prevent the bolt from clamping the cover. If the bolt is then overtightened in an effort to pull it down, damage may then be experienced, i.e., broken bosses on aluminum cylinder heads.
