A/T Oil Pressure Plugs - Revised

Subject: NEW OIL PRESSURE PLUGS - 1983 THM 700-R4 TRANSMISSION



Beginning October 12, 1982, all THM 700-R4 transmissions were built with a new oil pressure plug in three locations (see illustration).
The past oil pressure plug will still be used at the line pressure tap location. The new oil pressure plug will be used at the second clutch, third clutch, and fourth clutch pressure tap locations (refer to illustration).

To install these oil pressure plugs, apply thread sealant on the plug and torque as follows:

Torque past oil pressure plug to 11 N-m (8 ft..lbs.) Torque new oil pressure plug to 24 N-m (18 ft..lbs.)
