A/T - Intermittent Second Gear Starts

Subject: INTERMITTENT SECOND GEAR STARTS - 1983 125C TRANSMISSION (MODELS "CB" AND "HY")
Some 1983 THM 125C model "CB" and "HY" transmissions, may experience a condition where the transmission will start out in second gear. To correct this condition, all "CB" and "HY" model transmissions built after serial numbers 83-CB-29352 and 83-HY-3199 will be built with a governor assembly that has the primary spring removed.

When servicing any 1983 THM 125C "CB" or "HY" model transmission built prior to the above serial numbers, with a second gear start condition, refer to the following service procedure:
SERVICE PROCEDURE

Refer to the Service Manual for proper removal and installation procedures:

1. Remove the governor assembly from the transmission.

2. Remove the primary spring from the governor assembly (see Figure 1).
3. Reinstall the governor assembly.
