A/T - 125C TCC Will Not Release After Warm-Up

TSB 86-31 (June)

SUBJECT: 125 C

COMPLAINT:
[1][2]Torque converter clutch works OK cold. After unit reaches operating temperature T.C.C. applies and will not release. Pressing the brake pedal, or disconnecting wires to the transmission will not change its operation. The transmission kills the engine on a N-D or N-R engagement.

CAUSE:

Electrical (lock-up) solenoid partially restricted. In the early model 125-C, the solenoid is fed through a small hole in cup plug "A" (Figure 1). In the late model 125-C, the solenoid is fed through slot "B" (Figure # 2). If more fluid goes to the solenoid than it can exhaust, excessive pressure will build up, moving the lock-up valve and causing unwanted lock-up.

SOLUTION:
Change the solenoid. This will correct the problem.
