Number 83-I-162 Section 2 Date 11/83
Subject: CARE AND CLEANING OF SUEDED LEATHER INTERIOR TRIMSTE, FIREBIRD AND FIERO
1. Brush up suede nap and vacuum regularly.

^ Suede leather that seems worn and matted down may be quickly revived with brushing.

^ Dust, loose dirt and, dried water based spots should be removed with brush or vacuum cleaner.

2. Brush up nap and vacuum frequently..

When this procedure no longer removes soil, shampoo lightly with diluted Carbona Rug and Upholstery Shampoo, manufactured by Carbona Products Co. Dilute this shampoo using directions in this notice..

- Brush nap using a scrub brush.
- Dilute Carbona or equivalent (20 parts lukewarm water to one part Carbona).
- Spray diluted solution onto soiled area. Adjust spray nozzle for best sudsing results (if suds run off soiled area, spray solution onto wet sponge).
- Suds up leather by rubbing very gently with wet sponge. DO NOT BRUSH WET SUEDE. Allow Carbona shampoo to lift soil from leather. Very gentle rubbing helps break up embedded soiling.
- Remove suds with sponge.
- Rinse leather with clean wet sponge.
- Remove remaining shampoo residue with a dry cloth.
- Allow the leather to dry completely.
- Raise nap with dry scrub brush.
- Vacuum leather to remove any remaining residue.
- Repeat Carbona application if necessary.

3. If you are unable to satisfactorily clean sueded leather, call a qualified professional cleaner who has been trained to care for sueded leather or Mr. John Krause.

4. Scotchgard is tanned into this sueded leather. The Scotchgard protection will continue after initial cleaning. Repeated shampooing may reduce the effectiveness of the Scotchgard treatment and a new treatment may be necessary.

Use these procedures and recommended products in cleaning sueded leather. Harsh chemicals and other detergents can harm suede. If you feel it necessary to apply a protective coating after several shampoo cleanings, use only Scotchgard Brand Fabric Protector or equivalent.
