Forward & Direct Clutch

1. Position forward clutch on bench with input shaft upwards.





2. Install direct clutch assembly over input shaft onto forward clutch housing. When forward clutch is seated, there should be a distance of 31 mm (1 7/32 inch) from tang end of the direct clutch housing to end of forward clutch drum, see image.

3. Check input shaft to input internal gear thrust washer for wear or damage. Install input shaft to input shaft internal gear thrust washer with rounded side against input shaft. Retain washer with petroleum jelly.

4. Install direct and forward clutch assemblies. The unit will install easier by rotating unit without pushing down.





5. When correctly installed, the case face to direct clutch housing measurement will be 42 mm (1 11/16 inch), see image.
