Removal and Installation






1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then remove air cleaner.

2. Disconnect ground cable from transaxle.

3. Disconnect shift and select cables from transaxle.

4. Remove upper transaxle to engine attaching bolts.

5. Install engine support fixture, tool No. J-28467 or equivalent, see accompanying figure.

6. Raise and support vehicle.

7. Remove rear wheels, then disconnect axle shafts from transaxle.

8. Remove heat shield from catalytic converter, then disconnect exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold.

9. Remove engine mount and transaxle mount to cradle attaching nuts.

10. Support cradle with a suitable jack, then remove front and rear cradle to body attaching bolts.

11. Lower cradle from vehicle and position aside.

12. Remove starter and inspection cover shields, then the starter motor.

13. Remove flywheel to converter attaching bolts.

14. Support transaxle with a suitable jack, then remove lower transaxle to engine attaching bolts and lower transaxle assembly from vehicle.

15. Reverse procedure to install.

NOTE: When installing cradle, work into position on rear mounts, then raise front into position.
