A/C Module Replace

CAMARO & FIREBIRD

1. Disconnect battery ground cable and discharge system refrigerant.
2. Remove console as follows:
a. Remove shift gate trim plate by removing shift handle and attaching screws.
b. Remove radio A/C heater controller trim plate.
c. Remove A/C-heater controller.
d. Remove radio.
e. Disconnect electrical connectors and pull harness forward out of console.
f. Remove console hold down and console to instrument panel screws, then the console.
3. Remove instrument panel pad and lower hush panels.
4. Remove right and left lower instrument panel covers and trim plates.
5. Remove instrument panel cluster as follows:
a. Remove instrument cluster bezel.
b. Remove cluster attaching screws, pull cluster back and disconnect speedometer cable and electrical connections.
c. Remove cluster lens.
6. Remove headlight switch as follows:
a. Remove instrument panel cluster trim plate.
b. Remove switch assembly retaining screws.
c. Depress side tangs and pull switch assembly from instrument panel.
7. Lower steering column.
8. Remove upper and lower instrument panel carrier to cowl screws.
9. Disconnect instrument panel electrical harness at cowl connector and under dash.
10. Remove instrument panel carrier from vehicle.
11. Remove lower heater outlets.
12. Disconnect control cables and vacuum hoses at module and at controller.
13. Remove heater core.
14. Remove interior screws and exterior nut holding case to cowl.
15. Remove evaporator core.
16. Remove screw holding case to cowl from engine compartment side.
17. Remove module.
18. Reverse procedure to install.
