Removal and Replacement

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.

2. Remove oil dipstick tube, if necessary, then disconnect all transmission electrical connectors.

3. Remove air cleaner assembly and disconnect T.V. cable at upper end.

4. Raise and support vehicle.

5. Remove torque arm clamp from transmission.

6. Place a wooden block between floor pan and torque arm and disconnect torque arm from rear axle.

7. Remove propeller shaft, then disconnect speedometer cable or P.M. generator and T.V. cable from transmission.

8. Disconnect transmission cooler lines and shift linkage.

9. Remove exhaust bracket, then the upper-to-lower support bolts.

10. Support transmission with a suitable jack and remove transmission rear
lower support.

11. Remove flywheel cover, then mark relationship between flywheel and converter and remove torque converter attaching bolts.

12. Remove transmission-to-engine attaching bolts and carefully lower transmission from vehicle.

13. Reverse procedure to install.
