System Bleeding

NOTE: When bleeding the clutch hydraulic system, the reservoir should be maintained at the proper level at all times.

1. Fill clutch hydraulic system reservoir with DOT 3 brake fluid.

2. Fully loosen bleeder screw located on clutch slave cylinder body.

3. Air bubbles should be noted at bleeder screw outlet. When slave cylinder has filled, a steady stream of fluid will be noted and the bleeder screw should be tightened.

4. With fluid at proper level, install cap and seal on reservoir.

5. Exert a load of approximately 20 pounds to the slave cylinder piston, by pushing pushing the release lever toward the cylinder. While maintaining load on slave cylinder piston, open bleeder valve until a steady stream of fluid is being expelled, then close bleeder valve.

6. Check reservoir fluid level and add fluid as necessary.

7. Exert a load of approximately 20 pounds to release ever, the clutch slave cylinder piston should move slowly down in bore, forcing any air left in system to the reservoir. It may be necessary to repeat 2 to times.

8. Check clutch system operation. Also check slave cylinder push rod travel as described under inspection.
