Disassembly

Mark or note installation position of all components prior to removal to ensure proper assembly. Do not interchange calibrated primary and secondary metering components, as serious driveability problems will result.
1. Remove stepped speed control actuator nut, retainer and the actuator, or the idle speed solenoid, as equipped.
2. Remove fuel inlet nut, gasket, filter and filter spring, Fig. 4.
3. Remove MC solenoid retaining screws, lock washers and the solenoid.
4. Remove choke operating rod retaining clips, rod and insulator.
5. Remove 5 air horn retaining screws, air horn and gasket, and place inverted air horn on flat surface.
6. Remove float hinge pin, float, needle valve, needle seat and gasket from air horn.
7. Remove screws securing bowl vent solenoid and the solenoid spring, if equipped.
8. Remove clip securing seal and washer to bowl vent plunger, the washer, seal and the plunger assembly.
9. Remove heads of screws securing choke thermostat retainer using file or grinder, then remove retaining ring, 3 screws, thermostat, ground plate and thermostat housing from choke housing.
10. Remove 3 screws securing choke housing assembly and the housing, disconnecting fast idle link as housing is removed.
11. Remove nut from end of choke housing shaft, lock washer, choke lever, spring bushing and spring, and fast idle cam, then withdraw shaft from housing.
12. Remove fast idle lever retaining screw, lock washer, bushing, spring washer, lever and spacer washer.
13. Remove 3 screws securing vacuum break diaphragm cover to choke housing, diaphragm cover, spring, and the diaphragm and shaft assembly.
14. Remove vacuum break adjusting screw from diaphragm cover.
15. Remove 4 screws securing accelerator pump cover to carburetor, cover assembly, diaphragm and spring.
16. Remove throttle position switch cover and switch from accelerator pump cover.
17. Remove main air bleed jets and main well tubes from carburetor body, noting position for reassembly.
18. Remove main fuel jets from carburetor body, noting position for assembly.
19. Remove accelerator pump discharge nozzle screw, nozzle and gaskets.
20. Remove discharge check ball and spring from accelerator pump well.
21. Remove concealment plug and idle mixture adjusting screw as outlined in ``Concealment Plug Removal.''
