Service Procedure

1. Disconnect negative battery cable.

2. Loosen accessory drive belts.

3. Remove crankshaft pulley bolt, washer and pulley.

4. Inspect and clean area on end of crankshaft and inside of sprocket.

5. Insert wedge spacer (3) with sharp edge towards crankshaft (see illustration).

6. Insert spring washer (2) (see illustration) so that outer edge (large end) contacts wedge spacer (small end [convex side] will contact pulley). A dab of grease may be used to retain spring washer (2) prior to pulley installation.

7. Install pulley, washer and new crankshaft pulley bolt (1) provided.

INSURE THAT LOCATING PINS ARE ENGAGED WITH CRANKSHAFT PULLEY PRIOR TO TORQUING CRANKSHAFT PULLEY BOLT.

8. Torque crankshaft pulley bolt to 95 N-M (70 ft.lbs.) while holding crankshaft (flywheel).
9. Reassemble accessory belts and tension to specification.

Accessory Belt tension:
New Belts Used Belts
Generator 140 lbs. (623 N) 75 lbs. (334 N)
A/C Compressor 160 lbs: (712 N) 80 lbs. (356 N)
Power Steering 140 lbs. (623 N) 75 lbs. (334 N)

10. Reconnect negative battery cable.

11. Install Campaign Identification Label according to following instructions.

CAMPAIGN IDENTIFICATION LABEL

Each vehicle modified in accordance with the instructions outlined in this Product Campaign Bulletin will require a "Campaign Identification Label". Each label provides a space to include the campaign number, the five digit dealer code of the dealer performing the campaign service, and the date vehicle was campaigned. This information may be inserted with a typewriter or ballpoint pen. Install the label only on a clean, dry surface of the radiator baffle where it is readily visible. (Campaign labels are available on stationery order as Form 7901-709).
