Valve Body






1. Remove manual valve and manual valve link from valve body, see image. Turn valve body so transfer plate is facing upward and remove attaching bolts, plate, and gasket.

2. Use a C-clamp to compress accumulator piston and remove retaining ring. Loosen C-clamp slowly to release spring tension, then remove piston, oil ring and spring. Inspect parts for wear or damage. Replace if necessary.





3. Remove 1-2 shift control valve retaining pin, sleeve, control valve, spring and shift valve, see image. If necessary, remove burrs in valve body made by retaining pin prior to removal of the sleeves and valves.

4. Remove 2-3 shift control valve retaining pin, sleeve, shift control valve, spring seat, spring and shift valve.

5. Remove 3-2 control valve retaining pin, plug, spring and control valve.

6. Remove detent pressure regulator valve retaining pin, spring and detent pressure regulator valve.

7. Remove high speed downshift timing valve retaining pin, spring and remove valve. Remove downshift timing valve plug retaining pin, plug, low speed downshift timing valve and spring.

8. Remove manual low and reverse control valve retaining pin, spring, manual low control valve and reverse control valve.

9. Remove 1-2 accumulator valve retaining pin, plug, 1-2 accumulator valve and spring.

10. Thoroughly clean and inspect all parts for wear or damage. Replace parts as necessary.

11. Reverse procedure to assemble, see image above step 3.

12. Install the transfer late and new gasket to valve body. Torque bolts to 6-8 ft lbs.
