CAMBER ADJUSTMENT
1. Remove upper ball joint as described in the ``Front Suspension & Steering Section, 1984-87.''
2. Camber may be increased approximately 1° by rotating 1/2 turn and reinstalling with flat of upper flange on inboard side of control arm, Fig. 1.

CASTER ADJUSTMENT
1. Remove upper control arm as described in the ``Front Suspension & Steering Section, 1984---87.''
2. Adjust caster by installing washers between legs of upper control arm, Fig. 2. When caster is adjusted, two washers totalling .472 inch (12 mm) must be installed, with one at each end of locating tube.
CAMBER & CASTER
ADJUSTMENT
1. Jounce front and rear bumpers three times.
2. Loosen upper control arm shaft bolts and move upper control arm as shown, Fig. 4, to adjust caster and camber. If upper control arm shaft bolts are removed, paddle nut assembly must be replaced.
3. Torque upper control arm shaft bolts to 52 ft. lbs. plus an additional 1/4 turn.

TOE-IN ADJUSTMENT
1. Loosen jam nuts on toe link rod, then rotate rods until toe-in is within specifications, Fig. 3.
2. Torque jam nuts to 47 ft. lbs. Use care not to twist or damage rubber boots.

INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Make any necessary preparations for front wheel alignment.
2. Mount J 36419 adjustment tools on the upper control arm shaft and hand tighten the thumb wheels onto the cross shaft (See Figure 5).
3. Turn adjusting screws until swivel pads contact the frame (securely).
4. Loosen the shaft bolts as required. See Figure 4.
A) Pivot bolt should be only slightly loosened.
B) Opposite bolt should be very loose.
5. NOTICE: THIS TOOL WILL ALLOW FOR OUTWARD ADJUSTMENTS ONLY INWARD ADJUSTMENTS MUST BE MADE MANUALLY- OR -THE UPPER ARM CAN BE MOVED TO A FULL INWARD POSITION AND THEN ADJUSTED OUTWARD AS REQUIRED USING J 36419. TURN APPROPRIATE ADJUSTING SCREW CLOCKWISE TO MOVE UPPER ARM OUTWARD (SEE FIGURE 2).
