Subject: SQUEAKS IN CLUTCH SYSTEM

1984-87 FIERO MODELS WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSION
Some 1984-87 Fieros with manual transmissions may exhibit a squeak or noise condition when depressing the clutch pedal. These squeaks can be generated at one or more of the following locations:

1. Clutch master cylinder push rod to clutch pedal attachment. This can be repaired by installing a plastic bushing in the master cylinder pushrod. Part numbers and procedures in Pontiac Service Bulletin #86-7-24.

2. Clutch pedal pivot bushing. This can be repaired by lubricating the pivot bushing as shown in Pontiac Service Bulletin #86-7-13.

3. Master cylinder internal seal.

This repair will require replacing the master cylinder and the hydraulic fluid. (Use Castrol fluid, P/N 12345347) Master Cylinder, P/N 10079730.

4. Rubber boot on master cylinder rubs against the push rod.

- Grease master cylinder push rod with GM Paste Silicone Grease, PN 1052863 or an equivalent.

Use applicable labor operation number and time.
