Instruments - Low Coolant Warning On Driver Info Center

Number 85-8-18 Date 10/85
Subject: "LOW COOLANT" WARNING ON DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER

1985 GRAND AM
CONDITION:

Driver Information Center flashes a "low coolant" warning. However, a visual check of the coolant level shows that it is not low.

CAUSE:

Electromagnetic interference (EMI) causes the DIC to interpret a stray signal as a low coolant.

CORRECTION:

Replace DIC module P.N. 25076572 with module 25072474. All VIN's prior to FC736995 may be affected. (Any DIC's that were replaced in service and do not indicate a "low coolant" warning need not be changed.)
