1982-86 J2000 AND SUNBIRD MODELS
Some 1982-86 J2000 and Sunbird models may, exhibit a condition of front brake noise. All J2000 and Sunbirds use semi-metalic brake linings. Semi-metalic linings have many advantages over asbestos linings; however, they also produce more noise than the asbestos linings used on previous model vehicles. If concerns of front brake noise are encountered, the front brake linings can be replaced with 1987 Sunbird linings, P/N 12321424. The 1987 lining is made of a different material. The lining edge code, which is stamped in the lining material on the outside curved edge, can be used to identify the new material. It should read "DM128FE".
