Engine - Drive Belt Failures

1985 PARISIENNE, FIREBIRD, GRAND PRIX AND BONNEVILLE MODELS WITH LB4 (4.3L) VIN CODE Z, LG4 (5.0L) VIN CODE H, AND L69 (5.0L) VIN CODE G ENGINES
Effective with 1985 models produced after May, 1985 the above vehicles with LB4, LG4, and L69 engines will use a five (5) rib Poly-Vee alternator belt and associated pulleys. Vehicles returned for service due to customer comments of belt slippage and/or belt failure can be handled successfully with proper belt usage and tensioning procedures.
On vehicles returned for service due to repeated alternator drive belt failure, the following list of replacement pulleysare released for service. The same Poly-Vee belt, P/N 14088983 and alternator pulley, P/N 10495231, will be used in all instances.
