Parts Information and Service Procedure

Parts required to complete this campaign are to be ordered by the dealer from the General Motors Warehousing and Distribution Division (GMWDD).

To ensure that these parts will be obtained as soon as possible, they should be ordered from GMWDD on a C.I.O. order with no special instruction code but on an advise code (2).

BATTERY CABLE ROUTING:




SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Disconnect negative battery cable and raise vehicle on the hoist.

2. Using a screw driver, open the positive battery cable clip at the frame rail (View A) enough to pull approximately 2.0 inches of cable rearward through the clip.

3. Disconnect battery cable at the starter motor solenoid.

4. Straighten locking tab and flatten the ring terminal of the battery cable.

SOME VEHICLES MAY HAVE AN UNUSED CLIP AROUND THE BATTERY CABLE (SIMILAR TO CABLE CLIP AT FRAME RAIL IN STEP #3). IF SO, USE STEP #6. IF NOT, GO ON TO STEP #7.

5. Remove unused clip.

6. Install 10 mm dia. by 380 mm long conduit on the rear end of positive battery cable

SOME VEHICLES MAY HAVE TAPE JOINTS ON THE BATTERY CABLE AND THE RED CHARGING CIRCUIT WIRE. IF A TAPE JOINT IS IN THE WAY OF INSTALLING THE CONDUIT, CUT THE TAPE AND RETAPE RED WIRE TO CONDUIT AFTER INSTALLATION.

BATTERY CABLE ASSEMBLY:




7. Install P/N 10039236, retainer bracket at brake line clip (View B).

8. Pull cable rearward and install one of the 10 mm dia. rosebud clips to the conduit and attach to the retainer (View B).

FUEL LINE ROUTING:




9. Connect battery cable to starter motor solenoid at a 7 o'clock position as shown in View C.

10. Lower vehicle on the hoist. Install, P/N 14080632, retainer bracket, using, P/N 11501118, screw, in the existing hole in the cross member as shown in View A.

11. Install remaining rosebud clip to conduit and attach to the retainer (View A).
12. Bend fuel lines downward for a minimum of 50 mm (1.95 in.) clearance to the R.H. rear fan shroud screw, refer to illustration. Damaged fuel line(s) should be replaced.

13. Reconnect negative battery cable. Install Campaign completion label.
