Subject: GEAR MECHANISM SLIPS OUT OF ENGAGEMENT


1985-86 PARISIENNE MODELS


The mode selector gear mechanism of vacuum rotary valve and slide rack may slip out of engagement on the above vehicles, causing mode selector to be inoperative.

This condition can be repaired by a new service package, P/N 1228343, without replacing the complete control assembly.

The new service package contains the following parts:

Slide Rack - 16040421

Rotary Valve Asm. - 16042667

Procedure:

1. Remove control assembly from I.P.

2. Replace slide rack and rotary valve making sure that the locating pin on rotary gear is align in the center of "V" slot on slide rack.

3. Reinstall control assembly to I. P.
