The Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has determined that certain 1985 Pontiac Parisienne, Grand Prix, Bonneville and Firebird model vehicles may be emitting pollutants in excess of Federal emission standards. This standard was established to protect the public health and welfare from the dangers of air pollution.
DEFECT INVOLVED
Certain 1985 Pontiac model vehicleg may experience an inoperative canister purge Thermo Vacuum Switch (TVS). An inoperative canister purge TVS can effect the intended function of the evaporative emission control system.
The canister purge TVS will be replaced with a new unit on all involved vehicles according to the instructions contained in this bulletin.

Involved are all 1985 Pontiac Parisienne, Grand Prix, Bonneville and Firebird models equipped with a 5.OL (RPO LG4) or 5.OL (RPO L69) engine:
Involved vehicles have been identified by Vehicle Identification Number Computer Listings.
