Clutch: Service and Repair
1. Raise vehicle and remove transmission as outlined under "Manual Transmission, Replace" procedure.2. Remove release bearing from the clutch fork and sleeve by sliding lever off ball stud and against spring force. If ball stud is to be replaced, remove cap, lock nut and stud from housing.
3. Make sure alignment marks on clutch assembly and flywheel are distinguishable.
4. Loosen clutch cover to flywheel bolts one turn at a time until spring pressure is released, to avoid bending the clutch cover flange.
5. Support the pressure plate and cover assembly while removing bolts and clutch assembly. Do not disassemble the clutch cover, spring and pressure plate for repairs. If defective replace complete assembly.
6. Reverse procedure to install making sure to index alignment marks. Check position of engine in front mounts and realign as necessary.
