Subject: ORDERING REPLACEMENT WIRING HARNESS CONNECTORS

ALL YEARS - ALL MODELS
"Please disregard previous bulletin 86-SM-13 and replace with 86-SM-13A due to this updated information."

In the event it becomes necessary to replace a connector in a wiring harness, the following procedure should be followed.

1. The Standard Parts Catalog should be the first place to look for any connector.

2. Many connector bodies have an identifying part number. Part numbers should be confirmed through the use of the Parts Price Schedule and subsequently ordered in the regular manner.

3. Many connectors are identified in Section 8A of the Service Manual.

4. If the number on the connector is not a valid service part, it must be treated as a no code item. Order the part through your local PDC Order Department as a no code item using the following guidelines:

a) Specify part number or type of harness the connector is part of.

b) Specify VIN of vehicle.

c) Specify complete physical description of connector (terminals, etc.).

d) Specify the function and location of the connector and the switch, sensor, etc., that it connects to.
If a particular connector is not readily available through WDDGM, the order will be routed through Packard Electric who will ship the replacement connector direct to the dealer. Packard maintains no inventories of replacement connectors, but will provide them on request whenever possible.

These connectors will not contain terminals. The terminals must be ordered separately using the Standard Parts Catalog.

Should you have any questions concerning this procedure please contact your zone office.
